Storage overview

APOLLO LOGISTICS BV oversees separately owned tank farms at the ports of the Netherlands, which are run by our management and charge all oil companies the appropriate fees for handling and storing their products. Some of our tank farms are below ground, but the majority are above ground, providing support for the safe discharge of products into large, heavy oil tankers. We run a global network of terminals that are positioned strategically along important trade routes. With a solid track record and a commitment to sustainability, which includes safety, we guarantee our clients’ bulk liquid product and gas handling and storage in a safe, effective, and clean manner. By doing this, we make it possible for goods like oil, chemicals, gases, biofuels, and vegetable oils to be delivered—items essential to our daily lives and economy. In the energy industry, the storage of natural gas is important both to provide strategic reserves and to meet peak load demands. APOLLO LOGISTICS BV’s core competencies include simulating all injection and withdrawal processes involved in gas storage facility operations, optimizing all plant components, implementing short switching and ramp-up times, and installing fully remote-controlled systems. Mineral oil and mineral oil products are also kept in underground storage facilities.

Every above-ground storage tank built by APOLLO LOGISTICS BV is made of premium steel plate that has been precisely engineered to meet national and federal regulations for the type, size, and environment of the product to be stored. Before being put into service, new tanks undergo hydrostatic testing, which involves filling them with water and checking them for leaks among other integrity tests. Additionally, while regular operations are carried out, cathodic protection controls corrosion. Additionally, tanks are grounded to reduce the accumulation of static electricity during filling and refilling as well as to deflect any possible lightning strikes. Every one of our facilities undergoes regular maintenance, inspections, and monitoring. Every tank undergoes a visual inspection by railed terminal staff at least once a month. There are also extra yearly inspections carried out.
